For more than four decades, Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun Lets’lo:tseltun, recipient of the 2025 Gershon Iskowitz Prize, has been creating paintings, drawings, and installations that combine Coast Salish cosmology with formal languages drawn from surrealism, pop art, and the Canadian landscape tradition. His grand-scale works confront some of the most urgent issues facing Indigenous peoples, and the nation, at large, including colonial violence, environmental degradation, land rights, and Indigenous sovereignty.
