Gershon Iskowitz: Memory Works

A holocaust survivor, Gershon Iskowitz arrived in Canada in 1948 and became one of this country’s most notable artists. Excavating his early life, Memory Works reveals the oft-overlooked years of his artistic practice from 1947–1955, when his brush and pen turned to that which was lost—his early life, Jewish life in Poland, and his experiences in Auschwitz and Buchenwald.
