Böcklin

The Alte Nationalgalerie dedicates an exhibition to the painter, sculptor, and inventor Arnold Böcklin (1827–1901), one of the most important artists of Symbolism. In the year of his 200th birthday, around 150 works offer insights into his oeuvre and its complex reception history, bringing together various versions of his most famous motif, The Isle of the Dead.
